All About Kristen By Kristen Sorensen and Jill Bollinger Kristen Sorensen has been with us a couple of years now. If you know Kristen you know how special she is. We thought it might be nice to let everyone know a little more about Kristen so with a couple dollars for ice cream, a pen and some paper we were off to Friendly's to get an interview with her. One of Kristen's favorite activities has been going to Canobe Lake Park. We spent a lot of time together that day and I must say she made it one of my favorite activities also! We enjoyed the ice cream cones and getting wet from the Boston Tea Party ride. Kristen loved getting soaked from head to toe! We giggled each time the wave came over the crowd of unexpecting people. Kristen went on the boat ride with Stephanie and her cousin so I myself didn't get soaked. Which I was glad I could stand by and watch in the dry area! Kristen enjoys playing games. It nice to play games just for the fun of it. I asked Kristen what her favorite Sunday School lesson was and she told me the story of Esther. She remembered the importance of the loved Esther's uncle Mortichi had for her. Kristen has a strong emotion for family which is one of the traits I love about her. I'm glad as a Sunday school teacher that my lessons can be taken to heart and be understood in the minds of the kids and how it relates to them. One of the amazing parts of this interview was when I asked Kristen what her favorite Bible verse was. Not only did she tell me what the reference was but had it memorized almost word for word and it wasn't a verse, it was an entire chapter - Psalms 23! Another favorite of hers is Matthew's - the lords prayer. For those prayer warriors there is nothing more special then hearing Kristen close our Sunday School by saying the Lord's Prayer. She always volunteers to close us in prayer. It is a privilege to have Kristen in my class. Kristen enjoys all the leaders. She wouldn't tell us who her favorite leader was but I'm going to think it's me! I have the privilege to say that since I'm writing the article! But really I know that she enjoys all of us, even her cousin Meghan who has been helping this year! Kristen's favorite song is "I will give you all my worship" (she has that memorized and sang a solo for us as we interviewed her). She knows how to worship no matter where she is. We asked her what she likes about going to church and her response was to sing hymns and choruses. She understands that her singing is a worship to God. Kristen goes to the alter to pray every week, she likes to bow down to pray. So when the call to the alter is given she doesn't have to think twice she goes. We asked her what she prays for and she told us that she prays for her friends at school. There is a lot of consistency that Kristen has. One example is that she has her own seat in Sunday School. It is always the front left of the room. Even when I try to rearrange the seats she always goes for the front. I'm glad that she likes the front row! Also like I mentioned before she likes to close in prayer. She likes having her sister Kori in her class. That's always a plus! I asked her what else she likes and she told me Wendy from Peter Pan and Hercules. So of course Brian was glad to hear that Disney was an important part of her life. When you get a chance your need to ask Kristen what Peter Pan character is her sister Rebi! Kristen goes to Broad Meadows School. Her favorite color is blue and she enjoys playing on the church basketball team. She loves to laugh and makes us laugh too! We asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said she wants to be a mother of 2 (one girl and one boy) and have a Husband named Herb. One of the things that I didn't know about Kristen was that she likes to put money in the offering. She puts in part of her allowance. What a wonderful example of Christianity Kristen is to me. I some times feel that she teaches me more than I teach her! January February March 2004 |
